PAS MUKTAMAR | A PAS Youth delegate has interpreted the recent sinkhole incident near Masjid India, Kuala Lumpur, as a divine retribution from Allah.
Mohd Sharif Mohd Azhari, a delegate from Machang PAS division’s youth wing, claimed the incident could be linked to actions by the federal territories minister and the construction of the Petronas Twin Towers (KLCC) in Kuala Lumpur.
Citing a verse from the Quran’s Surah Al-Ankabut, he said one form of divine retribution is sinking people into the earth.
“It happened in Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia, where an Indian woman went missing and has not been found, only her slippers were recovered. Allah had said this is a form of Allah’s retribution.
“While we feel sorrow for the missing Indian woman, we must recognise this as divine retribution.
“It could also be related to what the federal territories minister has done with the land in Kuala Lumpur,” he said while debating the PAS Youth assembly’s 65th resolution in Kerdau, Temerloh, today.
The resolution stated: “PAS Youth condemns DAP’s interference in Islamic affairs.”
Sharif (above) did not specify which minister he was referring to, though the towers were built during Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s tenure as the fourth prime minister.
The PAS Youth delegate also claimed he obtained information from a National Geographic documentary about the construction of KLCC.
“I saw on National Geographic that during the initial stages, there was a part where KLCC should not have been built.

“The land was reclaimed, and under Kuala Lumpur, we know it’s where two rivers meet. It’s a muddy area, where the rivers converge,” he said.
He viewed this situation as a form of divine retribution, particularly if the evil deeds of DAP were not addressed.
“DAP is wicked, doing evil things, and if we let this continue, we must speak out,” he added, fully supporting the resolution presented by Kelantan PAS Youth chief Mohamad Kamal Mohamed.
