PAS MUKTAMAR | PAS would now offer associate membership to non-Muslims after party leadership approved an amendment to its constitution in its 70th muktamar.

However, it comes with one condition - no atheists allowed.

“If you want to become an associate member, you must have religion, be it a Hindu, Christian, Buddhist or any other religion available in the world.

“However, those without a religion like atheists are disallowed,” said PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan.

Having said that, the Kota Bahru MP said the changes involve an amendment to Clause 3 of the party constitution.

“The PAS Non-Muslim Supporters’ Wing (DHPP) will also be strengthened by giving the wing more role, including rights to vote and get elected into the party as per clause 60 (party constitution)

“This will help the wing to contribute to the party better,” Takiyuddin added.

Apart from that, PAS leadership tabled six other motions which include anti-hopping provisions, the creation of the As-Sabiqun wing (for party veterans) and allocation involving the board of trustees.

All motions were debated by the delegates present and were approved unanimously.
