Amanah Youth is urging youth wings of political parties in the Madani administration to lodge police reports over PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang's “munafiq” claim against the government.
In a statement, Amanah Youth secretary Ahmad Shahir Mohd Shah said Hadi's speech during the 70th PAS muktamar at Al-Makmur Complex in Kerdau, Temerloh, was full of hate and vengeance, as well as extreme, coming from someone who was described as a religious teacher.
During his speech at the muktamar, Hadi (above) claimed that the government was like the agenda of the “munafiq” group during the early years of Islam in Medina, Saudi Arabia.
Munafiq refers to a person who in public shows he or she is a Muslim but rejects Islam or speaks against the faith in his or her heart, or when among enemies of the religion.
"Amanah Youth lambasts strongly Hadi's seditious statement which can trigger a repeat of the Memali tragedy.
"Amanah Youth calls for all leadership of the unity youth to take action by lodging police reports over Hadi's speech.
"This is the space we have in politics. We still have enforcement agencies who can investigate and take action under the law," Shahir said.
Muktamar devoid of ideas
The Amanah Youth leader also lambasted Hadi’s alleged statement of religious experts supporting “wicked leadership” to change Islam in Malaysia.

The Amanah Youth leader added that Hadi's extreme accusation utilising an incorrect term was no different than the actions of (the militant group) ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) and (the American white supremacist group) Ku Klux Klan.
"If PAS' muktamar became a platform to hurl munafiq accusations and allege efforts to change Allah's religion, then the PAS muktamar is no more than an assembly devoid of ideas and aims," Shahir said.
The Memali Incident occurred in the remote village of Kampung Memali in Baling, Kedah, on Nov 19, 1985.
A team of 200 police officers laid siege to the village occupied by an Islamic sect of about 400 followers.
The siege ended in the deaths of 14 villagers and four police officers.
