PAS swipes back at PM's no-confidence vote dare

A PAS leader has challenged Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to “free” all government MPs first from all that binds them to the government of the day before talking about a no-confidence vote.

The call by PAS information chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari came just hours after Anwar dared the opposition to table the motion to test his legitimacy at the next Parliamentary sitting in October.

"Actually, Datuk Seri (Anwar's) government is not man enough to call for such a motion.

"This is because government MPs are bound by previous agreements, even before the first motion of confidence was brought in December 2022.

"If (Anwar’s government) is man enough, free all government MPs of all binding agreements, and give them the freedom to vote on their own choice. Then we will see whether you (Anwar) stay or go down," the Pasir Masir MP said in a statement on Facebook this morning.

Last night, Anwar challenged the opposition to file a motion for a vote of no confidence against him at the Dewan Rakyat session this October, instead of just playing on sentiments or going about shouting for him to “step down” from his premiership.

It is worth noting that the premier passed a motion of confidence tabled in the Dewan Rakyat to confirm his legitimacy as the prime minister, via a voice vote in December 2022.

Fadhli further questioned whether a motion of confidence would be treated in a just manner by the current Dewan Rakyat speaker Johari Abdul, should it be filed.
