GISBH business ops crippled amid police action

Business activities involving Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings Sdn Bhd (GISBH) in the country are believed to have come to a halt following a series of large-scale police raids under Ops Global phases 1 to 4, which commenced early this month.

During these operations, police froze 138 bank accounts belonging to GISBH, seizing over RM800,000 in funds. A total of 22 vehicles valued at about RM1.87 million and 14 properties were also seized, severely affecting the company’s operations.

Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain said nearly all GISBH-related premises nationwide are now non-operational. The police are urging former GISBH members and their victims to come forward with information to assist in the ongoing investigation.

Razarudin noted a significant decline in public trust towards GISBH, following revelations from authorities and disclosures by a social media account alleging the organisation is involved in cult activities, leading to disruptions in GISBH’s network.

Police are focusing on tracking down financial transactions and assets linked to GISBH through investigations involving detained individuals and intelligence gathered, he said.

In the meantime, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim gave his guarantee that the government will ensure police conduct a thorough and transparent investigation into GISBH’s activities.

He said this includes the need for the 542 children under the age of 18, placed in temporary shelters, to get access to welfare services, counselling, spiritual guidance and education until the investigations conclude.

Anwar also called upon GISBH members and supporters, both in Malaysia and abroad, who are not under investigation, to reach out to authorities to resolve any issues they may face.

In Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah expressed his concern regarding the alleged abuse and neglect of children associated with GISBH, questioning the organisation’s understanding of the rights of children that must be upheld and respected.

During a Friday sermon titled “Why Does GISBH Treat Children This Way?”, delivered in mosques across Selangor, His Royal Highness reminded the community that children are a trust from Allah SWT, deserving protection and care.

In Pahang, Menteri Besar Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said the state government will leave it to the authorities regarding enforcement actions and investigations linked to GISBH individuals and premises.

In Perak, Menteri Besar Saarani Mohamad is scheduled to present a comprehensive report on GISBH’s activities in the state to Sultan Nazrin Shah soon and said that 55 children have been rescued from GISBH-run charity homes since the launch of Ops Global.

In Kelantan, the Kota Bharu Magistrate’s Court today allowed a three-day remand extension against four individuals to assist with the GISBH investigation.

Police launched Ops Global on Sept 11, targeting 20 charity homes in Selangor and Negeri Sembilan linked to GISBH, amid allegations of child exploitation and deviant religious teachings.

Since then, over 300 individuals, including senior management at GISBH, have been arrested, and 572 victims were rescued.
