Umno Youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh has been summoned for questioning by the police over his response to DAP vice-chairperson Teresa Kok with regard to the halal certification issue.
In a Facebook post this evening after BN clinched the Mahkota seat in Johor, the firebrand politician, who had kept a low profile during the campaign period, came out with all his guns blazing.
“I will never surrender let alone apologise. Because I was taught to defend religion, race and my motherland even if I have to put my life on the line,” he said.
Targeting Kok, Akmal (above) said: “You created a problem, and you want to play the victim. Let’s meet in court.”
On Sept 24, Akmal was urged to apologise to Kok and all Malaysians over the halal certification issue.
Johor DAP committee member Dr Boo Cheng Hau said the cabinet’s decision not to mandate halal certification for restaurants and food businesses not selling pork and alcohol had vindicated Kok.

During the campaigning period for the Mahkota polls, Kok made it clear that she would not share the same stage with Akmal, whom she had sued.
Kok said her lawyer had advised her against it as such a decision could potentially complicate her case.
