Sabah polls results show Madani support level come GE16 - Rafizi

The results of the next Sabah election can be an early indicator of public support towards the Madani government for the 16th general election (GE16), said PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli.

He said the developments by the state and federal governments will be a vital measuring stick the people can use for both elections.

“This will give voters a good choice during the upcoming state elections,” he told reporters after officiating the Sabah PKR state leadership council office in Kota Kinabalu today.

The next Sabah state election, also known as the 17th Sabah election, must be held by Dec 9, 2025, while GE16 must be held by Feb 17, 2028.

Rafizi, who is also the economy minister, said inter-party cooperation for the Sabah election will be among matters discussed at the state and federal levels.

“While we look at and arrange political partnerships, what’s important is PKR as a party must look forward to what we can provide for the people,” he said.

He added that his visit to Sabah was for party matters, specifically to attend the party’s 25th-anniversary cum Sabah-level Keadilan Menang Siri PRU16 (Kemas16) convention today.

“The convention is to arrange the branch campaign guidelines and movements nationwide so that it (the election campaign) can be carried out more effectively, especially when dealing with voters.

“In the context of Sabah, it is also suitable as we believe Sabah will hold its state election sooner compared to other states,” he added.
