Foreign Minister Mohamad Hasan has teased that Malaysia may extend a balik kampung invitation to US presidential candidate Kamala Harris if she wins the race next week.

This is after Donald Trump strongman Tucker Carlson called Harris a “Samoan-Malaysian” during a political rally.

“Thank you for bringing this to our attention, Mr Carlson. We were not aware that a Malaysian was running for the office of US president.

“Should Puan Kamala win the race, we are delighted to invite her to balik kampung (return to one’s hometown) and try some nasi goreng USA,” Mohamad (above, left) said in a Facebook post today.

The USA in nasi goreng USA stands for udang (prawn), sotong (squid) and ayam (chicken), which are typically components of the fried rice dish and have no actual relation to the US as a country.

Harris is of Indian and Jamaican descent.

The US goes to the polls on Nov 5 Tuesday.

Surveys indicate that Harris and Trump are neck-to-neck in the race.
