Explain sale of 24ha land to China company, PAS rep urges Pahang govt

The Pahang state government and property developer Pasdec Holdings Bhd were urged to explain the sale of 23.96ha of land at Harbour Park, near Gebeng, to a company from China.

Pahang PAS deputy commissioner Andansura Rabu said this is because full details of the sale were not made public for scrutiny.

“I call upon the state government or Pasdec Holdings to reveal the transaction details, especially on ownership.

“Was permanent ownership given to the company from China or temporary ownership… if it was temporary, the public must be informed because people are asking about the land sale as it is a sensitive issue for the community.

“If it is a temporary ownership, how long is it for?” he asked in a statement today.

Andansura also asked for clarity on the investment that would be made by the Chinese company which bought the land.

It was said the company would invest about RM3 billion to build an oil refinery and petrochemical complex there, added the Beserah assemblyperson.

“If the company does not build any factory or develop the land after a few years, will the company still retain rights to the land?

“Is there a clause to stop them from selling the land? It’s we fear if the promised investment does not materialise, our land would be sold to a third party and in the end, the company will pocket the profits,” Andansura said.

At a ceremony on the sale of the industrial land last Tuesday, Pasdec said they would gain about RM73.4 million from the agreement.

The industrial land was sold to Chinese company Petroluxe Refinery (M) Sdn Bhd - which plans to build an oil refining and petrochemical integrated complex.

Present at the event were Pahang ruler Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah and state Menteri Besar Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail.

Meanwhile, Andansura also expressed worry about the rest of the land owned by Pasdec.

He said as a company linked to the Pahang state government, Pasdec must play a role in taking care of the land given to them.

“I raised the Pasdec issue at the Pahang state legislative assembly from 2017-2018 after shares in Pasdec, which were owned by the Pahang State Development Corporation, got sold to a private company.

“There is a lot of land still owned by Pasdec and I fear if there are more moves to sell them to outsiders,” he added.
