Greater prospects for govt after two years in power - Mujahid

The coalition government’s prospects for the years to come are increasingly promising, in line with its success in the economic recovery process and in building Malaysia’s image on the global stage, according to Senator Mujahid Yusof Rawa.

Mujahid (above) admitted that there is more to be done by the government, but the presence of Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, who inspires the people with the spirit of revival through the renewal of thought and national reform, is the greatest assurance in achieving its goals.

“The prime minister will also lead Asean in 2025, bringing various ideas to advance the region and strengthen its relationships with other parts of the world.

“We pray that the unity government formed two years ago remains stronger and more convincing to all segments of society.

“Just as we also hope that the parties within the unity government will not be disrupted by voices seeking to sow division among them,” he said in an article titled Dua Tahun Kerajaan Perpaduan; Melangkah Ke Hadapan published in the Tinta Minda section on the Bernama portal.

Mujahid, who is also Amanah deputy president and Perak Pakatan Harapan chairperson, said throughout the two years since the establishment of the unity government, the prime minister has also maintained the momentum of change, balancing internal challenges and bureaucracy, including cultural and behavioural changes, which have been the main obstacles to reform.

He said that based on the six core values of Madani, new structural policies were introduced, including the National Fiscal Responsibility to ensure the government remains accountable for the nation's treasury spending.

In addition, he said there has been a restructuring of the subsidy regime to make it more targeted, the introduction of a progressive wage policy, an increase in civil servants’ salaries, a new pension scheme, and support for those in need through various enhanced welfare programmes.

“Forward-looking policies such as artificial intelligence, the National Energy Transition Roadmap and the New Industrial Master Plan have all been outlined under the Madani concept,” he added.
