Fahmi: Govt won't interfere in Sabah corruption probe
The government will not interfere with the MACC’s investigation into allegations of corruption involving several Sabah assemblypersons.

“The prime minister addressed this matter in Parliament yesterday.
“The MACC investigation is ongoing, and the prime minister is not obstructing the commission from conducting a full inquiry. We leave the matter entirely to the MACC,” Fahmi told reporters in Putrajaya.
He was asked whether the government supported calls to disclose the recipients of the mineral exploration licences (PL) in Sabah and whether it viewed the issue as involving elements of corruption and abuse of power.
Earlier this month, Malaysiakini published a series of exposés on alleged corruption involving Sabah state representatives.

The series was based on eight video recordings from a whistleblower, detailing discussions with several Sabah ministers and assemblypersons regarding the payment of hundreds of thousands of ringgit to secure mineral mining quotas.
The whistleblower, who admitted to offering bribes, expressed willingness to share evidence with the MACC on the condition of protection under the Whistleblower Protection Act 2010.
Sabah Chief Minister Hajiji Noor has denied any wrongdoing and called for the businessperson involved to be investigated first.
In Parliament yesterday, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim emphasised that there would be no immunity in the MACC’s investigation into the alleged corruption scandal involving Sabah assemblypersons.
