PKR has decided to postpone its annual congress to Dec 15 due to the ongoing floods.

In a statement today, PKR information chief Fahmi Fadzil said the party leadership has also instructed its division members to help flood victims, including cleaning up works post-flood.

“At the same time, we will also conduct a special congress to amend the party constitution.

“It will be done using hybrid mode. The time and date will be announced by the party secretary-general,” he added.

In another statement, PKR secretary-general Fuziah Salleh confirmed that the special congress will be held on Dec 15.

“The special congress will be held in Selangor but details on the exact location will be revealed as soon as possible,” she added.

Meanwhile, Fahmi said the party leadership also called for a comprehensive anti-bullying campaign in light of rising bullying cases in higher education facilities. 

On Nov 27, the Armed Forces gave five Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM) cadets the boot and fined them a total of RM189,240 in compensation for being bullies in three separate cases.

This includes the cadet who had abused another trainee with a hot iron last month.

On the same day, Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) said it would review its Reserve Officer Training Unit programme following the death of one of its students after allegedly being abused by his trainer.

In a statement, UiTM said the university is ready to accommodate the ongoing probe.

“In light of this incident, the university has taken proactive steps to review and strengthen procedures related to training and monitoring mechanisms for uniformed co-curricular activities.

“The university management is deeply saddened by this incident and pledges its full cooperation with the authorities in their investigation into this case,” it added.
