I'm Sabah Umno chief, Hajiji CM: Bung responds to 'brainless' critic

Bung Moktar Radin has outlined the difference between him and Hajiji Noor following a tit-for-tat call to quit between Sabah Umno and Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS).

In doing so, the Sabah Umno chairperson launched a scathing retort at PBS Youth chief Christopher Mandut, whom he likened to someone “lost in a brightly lit street”.

“Because, Sabah Umno is asking for the chief minister to step down, not the chairperson of Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) to step down. He (Hajiji) can hold the latter post until he dies.

“Sabah Umno had asked him to quit as chief minister, and not as head of GRS. (Whereas) I am just the head of Sabah Umno.

“So, the PBS Youth chief, he should be told to ‘belajar dulu’ (learn). Don’t play politics if you are brainless,” Bung (above, right) added.

Yesterday, Mandut told Sabah Umno to “look in the mirror” after its wings called on Hajiji (above, left) to step down in the wake of corruption allegations.

The PBS Youth leader pointed out that Bung and his wife Zizie Izette Abdul Samad are also embroiled in a corruption case related to Felcra Bhd investments.

“If Sabah Umno is pressing for the chairperson of GRS to resign, then their own chairperson should also step down to allow a transparent and unbiased investigation into his corruption allegations,” he said.

Call for resignation

The call for Hajiji to step aside also came from Umno at the national level via its Youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh.

He said the GRS chief should step aside if MACC believes there is merit in the corruption allegations against him or members of his administration.

Hajiji and his administration have landed in the spotlight after a whistleblower released several videos which he claimed contained discussions with different assemblypersons regarding the alleged bribes he had given them to secure a mineral exploration licence.

Yesterday, the chief minister again dismissed the corruption allegations as attempts to destabilise the state government and tarnish its reputation.

Previously, Sabah Umno denied having links with the whistleblower.
