PAS condoles LA fire victims, tells Trump to abandon 'hell for Gaza' plan

PAS has expressed its deepest condolences to the families who lost loved ones in the devastating wildfires ravaging Los Angeles. 

“Our hearts go out to those who have been injured, displaced, or have seen their homes and livelihoods destroyed by this catastrophe,” said its information chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari in a statement.

At the same time, he urged president-elect Donald Trump to abandon any intention of turning Gaza into a “hell on earth”.

“Instead of fueling destruction and conflict, let us advocate for humanitarian efforts, peace, and justice for all people, regardless of nationality or religion,” he added in a statement.

At this difficult time, PAS said it stands in solidarity with the people of Los Angeles.

“The scale of this tragedy is unimaginable, and we acknowledge the bravery of the firefighters, first responders, and volunteers who have risked their lives to save others and contain the flames.

“We urge the government, humanitarian organisations, and the international community to prioritise immediate relief efforts. Emergency aid, temporary shelter, medical assistance, and long-term reconstruction plans must be swiftly implemented to help those affected to rebuild their lives,” Fahdli said.

‘Focus on LA, not Gaza’

He then urged Trump to channel his focus and resources toward helping the victims of this disaster recover and rebuild.

“The people of Los Angeles need strong leadership, compassion, and action in the face of this tragedy.

“We pray for the resilience of the people affected, and we hope for a future where leaders prioritise rebuilding lives, fostering unity, and ensuring safety for all. May this tragedy remind us of our shared humanity and the urgent need for compassion in a world already burdened with suffering.

“May the people of Los Angeles find strength, and may the world work together for peace rather than destruction,” he added.

Last week, Trump warned that if the hostages whom Hamas is still holding in Gaza are not released by his inauguration on Jan 20, “all hell will break out in the Middle East”.

“It will not be good for Hamas and it will not be good, frankly, for anyone. All hell will break out. I don’t have to say anymore, but that’s what it is,” he added.

The wildfires in Los Angeles have destroyed thousands of homes and killed 16 people. At least 16 people were missing, and authorities said that number was expected to rise.
