A PAS leader has criticised Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim for alleging that Kelantan did not feature mosques in its tourism promotional video.

In refuting the claim, Kelantan PAS Youth chief Mohd Kamal Mohamad pointed out that the state’s official promotional video for Visit Kelantan Year 2024 has a visual of the Sultan Ismail Petra Perak Jubilee Mosque in Rantau Panjang.

Kamal said this was the state’s latest official video for the programme, which was made and published by the Tourism Information Centre.

“It’s a pity. Either he (Anwar) was being hasty when he mentioned Kelantan in trying to defend a Madani minister over the Visit Malaysia Year video issue, or he was not properly advised by his officers.

“We could not ascertain whose fault it was, but he surely was referring to a wrong video, which is not the official video for the Visit Kelantan Year 2024 programme,” he said, as quoted by Harakah Daily.

Yesterday, Anwar during an event in Penang lambasted the opposition for criticising the Visit Malaysia Year 2026 promotional video for not featuring mosques, claiming that even Kelantan’s tourism promotional video did not feature a mosque.

The prime minister’s remarks came after several Perikatan Nasional leaders lashed out at the video produced by the Tourism, Arts, and Culture Ministry.

Kamal then urged the federal government to apologise to Kelantan over the accusation.

He said the government should correct its mistakes instead of trying to shift attention to Kelantan.

“Accusing Kelantan based on the wrong material not only further complicates the issue but also affects the credibility of the prime minister and all his officers who should be responsible for this.”
