MOH aims to release findings on Lahad Datu doctor's death in February

The Health Ministry is expected to disclose a special task force’s findings over the death of pathologist Dr Tay Tien Yaa at the Lahad Datu Hospital last year by February.

Minister Dzulkefly Ahmad said that the report - which has been completed - would be made public after it is presented to the cabinet and the doctor’s family.

“I have made a promise, and the final report from the independent special task force will certainly be presented to the public.

“I just want to mention one thing: the family of the deceased has requested clarification and an explanation before the findings are revealed to the public.

“I will definitely fulfil the family’s request before making it public. I promise we will be transparent,” he told reporters in Putrajaya today.

Tay died in August last year, with a family member alleging she had committed suicide due to workplace bullying.

Last October, Dzulkefly announced that the special task force, which was analysing input from the investigation into Tay’s death, would also examine the work culture at the Lahad Datu Hospital.

The task force, led by former public services director-general Borhan Dollah, is supported by five independent members with expertise in medicine, psychiatry, pathology, mental health, and workplace bullying.
