'Well done, boys' - Zahid lauds doubles pair for clinching India open title

Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi praised Malaysian badminton doubles pair Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin Rumsani, on their triumph in the 2025 India Open championship in New Delhi.

“This victory not only brings pride to Malaysia but also showcases remarkable resilience and fighting spirit. 

“Keep this momentum going to achieve even greater success on the international stage this year.

“Well done, boys. Keep it up!” he said in a Facebook post.

Similarly, Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh also took to social media to praise the nation’s top doubles pair.

“They did it again! Well done Goh and Nur Izzuddin for winning the India Open 2025,” she said.

Currently ranked number two in the world, the pair defeated South Korea’s Seo Seung-jae-Kim Won-ho 21-15, 13-21, 21-16 in the final yesterday.

On Saturday, they stunned home favourites and 2022 Asian Games champions Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty of India 21-18, 21-14 in the semi-finals.

In 2024, Goh and Nur Izzuddin won the Japan Open, China Open, and Arctic Open.

Their victory in India comes after 15 years since a Malaysian pair took the India Open men’s doubles title.
