Perak Amanah Youth slams Penang PAS Youth for stance on 'slander culture'

Perak Amanah Youth has criticised Penang PAS Youth for allegedly defending the culture of slander propagated by PAS leaders.

In a statement, Perak Amanah Youth chief Khairol Najib Hashim described this stance as extremely dangerous, arguing that it effectively seeks to legitimise slander as an acceptable political practice.

“According to a statement from Penang PAS Youth itself, PAS members who oppose the culture of slander are now being labelled as ‘pro-DAP’ and ‘traitors’.

“Even more worrying is that members who strive to uphold Islamic values and truth are instead regarded as enemies and traitors of the party,” he said today.

Earlier, Penang PAS Youth vice-chief Hafis Alias defended Perak PAS commissioner Razman Zakaria, claiming he was targeted by “pro-DAP” elements within the party due to his aggressive stance against DAP.

Razman recently apologised to Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh and the YTL Group for falsely linking her as the daughter of the conglomerate’s founder, Yeoh Tiong Lay.

Core political struggle

Commenting further, Khairol accused PAS of embracing slander as a core part of its political struggle, to the point of vilifying its own members who choose truth and integrity.

“Labelling fellow members who stand against slander as ‘pro-DAP’ clearly reflects a mindset that has deviated from Islamic teachings,” he remarked.

He further questioned the direction of PAS’ so-called Islamic struggle.

“If opposing slander is considered an act of betrayal, where does the true Islamic struggle stand?”

Khairol also warned that such an ideology not only harms PAS as a party but also threatens the future of Islamic politics in Malaysia.

‘Born of DAP’

Amanah was founded in 2015 by a group of former PAS leaders who broke away from the party.

It later became part of Pakatan Harapan alongside PKR, DAP, and the then-Bersatu.

Last week, Amanah called for a nationwide police report against PAS for falsely claiming that Amanah was created by DAP to divide PAS.

Amanah deputy president Mujahid Yusof Rawa dismissed PAS’ allegations as a politically motivated falsehood, insisting that Amanah was formed to uphold moderate and progressive Islamic values, not to serve any external agenda.
