DAP has positively impacted Sabah, youth leader tells Warisan

DAP has positively impacted Sabah, said state DAP Youth chief Chan Loong Wei in response to Warisan Youth questioning what the party had done for the state.

He pointed out that DAP lawmakers had not left Sabah behind and contributed hundreds of millions for the state’s development.

“Let the facts speak for themselves. Under the leadership of DAP ministers, we have seen significant federal allocations and policy advancements benefiting Sabah,” Chan (above) said.

He cited the RM572 million upgrade to the Kota Kinabalu International Airport and Tawau Airport as announced by Transport Minister Anthony Loke as an example.

Additionally, he cited Housing and Local Government Nga Kor Ming allocating RM217 million for infrastructure development, as well as the Sabah Labour Ordinance being amended under the watch of Human Resources Minister Steven Sim.

On top of that, Chan claimed that Sabah Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Phoong Jin Zhe’s leadership had resulted in a 4.4 percent growth in the manufacturing sector.

Yesterday, Warisan Youth chief Terence Au questioned DAP’s contributions to Sabah while hitting out at the party over its silence on the ongoing Sabah corruption scandal.

The scandal implicated multiple assemblypersons from Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), which DAP partners in the state government.

Phoong, who is the Sabah DAP chief, previously said that the party was sticking by GRS’ side amid the scandal.

What about Warisan?

Chan did not address this aspect of Au’s criticisms in his retort today.

Instead, the Sabah DAP Youth chief posed the same question back at Warisan.

“What has Warisan’s deputy minister (Yusof Apdal) achieved during his tenure under two different portfolios?

“If Warisan wants to talk about leadership, then let’s be fair - let’s debate based on results and achievements,” Chan said.

Yusof previously served as deputy higher education minister and is now the deputy science, technology, and innovation minister in the federal government, which both DAP and Warisan are part of.
