Wait and see: Fahmi responds to PKR vice-presidency speculation

PKR information chief Fahmi Fadzil said he has yet to decide whether to contest in the upcoming party election on May 25.

Fahmi, who is also communications minister, said this when asked to comment on speculation that he might contest the vice-president position.

“In PKR, we can serve and contribute in any position.

“So, for now, that is my choice - we’ll wait,” the Lembah Pantai MP said at a press conference in Putrajaya today.

Fahmi has held the position of PKR information chief since July 2022. Prior to this, he was the party’s communications director from September 2013 to July 2022.

Previously, Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari said he would announce his next move in PKR soon – whether to defend his vice-presidency or aim higher for the deputy presidency.

Amirudin stated that, in principle, he prefers to retain the vice-president seat he previously won.

However, he added that he must consider contesting a higher position due to new emerging factors.
