Summary

  • Sabah PKR information chief Razeef Rakimin says the state chapter has the power to decide on its own seat distributions and cooperation partners instead of depending on the central leadership as claimed.

  • Rezeef urges Sabah PKR leaders not to issue statements without referring to the state leadership council.

Sabah PKR has the autonomy to decide on seat distributions, cooperation partners, and its own manifesto.

Sabah PKR information chief Razeef Rakimin said this is contrary to claims that the party’s central leadership makes such decisions.

“For your information, the issue of cooperation in the election is deferred to the Sabah PKR state leadership council and then submitted to the central leadership for information before being announced.

“This is different from the report that claims cooperation is determined by the central leadership.

He was referring to a statement made by Sabah PKR deputy treasurer Nordin Ening yesterday, in which the latter said the central leadership will determine decisions on political partnerships ahead of the state election.

According to a report from The Star, Nordin said that PKR’s central leadership will consider the state party leadership’s views through consultation.

He was responding to questions on whether Sabah PKR will cooperate with Umno for the state election.

He added that Sabah PKR is currently selecting candidates to field in the state poll.

Razeef requested that Sabah PKR leaders not issue statements without referring to the state leadership council.

“At the state level, PKR has decided that only the chairperson and deputy chairperson can issue their own statements while the information chief is entrusted as the party spokesperson.

“The information chief can only issue a statement after confirmation from the political bureau,” he said.
