Anwar pays last respects to Abdullah Badawi

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim paid his last respects to the late Abdullah Ahmad Badawi at the National Mosque in Kuala Lumpur today.

Anwar arrived at the main prayer hall of the National Mosque at about 1pm accompanied by several ministers.

Among them were Agriculture and Food Security Mohamad Sabu; Higher Education Minister Zambry Abdul Kadir; Investment, Trade and Industry Ministry Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz; Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo; and Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Na’im Mokhtar.

Anwar then spent a few minutes meeting Abdullah’s family members.

Abdullah’s wife, Jeanne Abdullah, his daughter Nori Abdullah and her husband Khairy Jamaluddin were among the family members who were by the late Abdullah’s body throughout the last rites.

Also paying their last respects were Deputy Prime Ministers Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Fadillah Yusoff.

Abdullah, 85, breathed his last at the National Heart Institute (IJN) at 7.10pm last night.

IJN in a statement said the statesperson was admitted to the hospital on Sunday morning after experiencing breathing difficulty.
