Embed spiritual aspects in battle against graft, Tuan Ibrahim says

Spiritual aspects must be embedded in efforts to eradicate corruption apart from legal and enforcement angles, said PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man.

“We must cultivate the fear of God in every individual as a basic tenet to nurture integrity and honesty among the populace,” he said in a statement today.

Tuan Ibrahim (above) said this in congratulating PAS Senator Nik Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz’s appointment as a member of the Special Committee on Corruption by the prime minister yesterday.

Nik Abduh was among three new individuals appointed to the committee, with the other two being Senator Awang Sariyan and Langkawi MP Suhaimi Abdullah.

Current committee members are Batang Lupar MP Shafizan Kepli, Bentong MP Young Syefura Othman and Tawau MP Lo Su Fui, with Paya Besar MP Shahar Abdullah serving as chairperson.

Lauding Nik Abduh’s new task, Tuan Ibrahim said it was a great honour for PAS and it was in line with the party’s efforts to eradicate graft in the country.

“Corruption not only affects the nation's administration but also is an act abhorred by God. This includes the givers, receivers and those who allow it to happen.

“The crime can destabilise the country, disrupt harmony and affect good governance.

“And I hope the senator would contribute positively in raising awareness of the dangers of corruption and inculcate values of integrity among the masses and the nation’s administration,” the Kubang Kerian MP added.
