Former prime minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob arrived at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya this morning for his 10th round of questioning over graft claims linked to him.

Bernama reported that the former premier arrived at 10.54am to continue giving his statement to assist in the investigation on corruption and money laundering.

He previously gave his statement on April 25 and had spent seven hours with investigators the day before that.

The Bera MP is being investigated under the MACC Act 2009 and the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001.

It is understood that the probe is related to the expenditure and procurement of funds for promotional and publicity activities, under the Keluarga Malaysia initiative, during his tenure as prime minister, from August 2021 to November 2022.

Previously, MACC chief commissioner Azam Baki said the investigation is only about 10 to 20 percent complete, adding that Ismail Sabri would be undergoing further rounds of questioning.

“The process takes time because the individual slapped with the notice must declare the source of the asset and it must satisfy MACC as the investigating agency,” Bernama reported Azam as saying on April 29.

On March 3, Azam said the Umno leader was a suspect in the probe, following the discovery of approximately RM170 million in various currencies and 16kg of gold bars in a safehouse during a MACC raid.

Investigators have interviewed 31 individuals so far over the case, including several other politicians, but Azam did not elaborate on their identities.
