Amanah tells members to stay clear of PKR's election business

Amanah today urged its members to avoid making any comments regarding PKR’s election issues on any platform, describing it as an internal “Keadilan family matter”.

In a statement today, party secretary-general Faiz Fadzil stressed that Amanah members should refrain from interfering in PKR’s affairs, particularly by expressing support for any specific candidate.

“Considering that this election platform is an internal Keadilan family matter, Amanah’s leadership and members at all levels should not interfere with this process.

“Therefore, all Amanah members must refrain from making any comments or expressing opinions on any media platform or forum regarding this election process, especially showing inclination towards any candidate, in order to maintain the long-established unity between Amanah-Keadilan,” Faiz (above) said.

While not naming any Amanah leaders explicitly, he is believed to be referring to communications director Khalid Samad.

Khalid, on the “Explain Sikit!” podcast by KiniTV, said PKR delegates should choose their deputy president based on the capabilities and strengths of candidates.

This is instead of basing their choice on the familial relationship between PKR president Anwar Ibrahim and his daughter Nurul Izzah, he added.

Khalid, a former Shah Alam MP, said the issue of Nurul Izzah’s relationship with Anwar should not be raised by PKR members but should be left for their political opponents instead.

Former Batu MP and PKR vice-president Tian Chua was also on the podcast.

“In terms of experience and exposure opportunities between Rafizi and Nurul Izzah, I think Nurul Izzah is a victim of the fact that she is Anwar’s daughter,” Khalid went on to say.

“This was what happened to Dr Wan Azizah (Wan Ismail) too. Just because she is Anwar’s wife, she can no longer be a minister. Because people look at the relationship.”
