PAC interviews Mkini columnist in probe on govt, DBKL land deals
The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) today interviewed Malaysiakini columnist and veteran journalist R Nadeswaran in its inquiry into land dealings conducted under the government and the Kuala Lumpur City Council (DBKL).
In a statement today, PAC chairperson Mas Ermieyati Samsudin said that Nadeswaran was interviewed as a witness, as part of the committee’s examination of land development affairs overseen by the Federal Territories Department, the Department of Director-General of Lands and Mines, and DBKL.

Alongside Nadeswaran (above), Segambut MP Hannah Yeoh’s political secretary, Yap Yee Vonne, was also questioned as a witness in the matter.
“Meanwhile, in the afternoon session, the PAC will hold its follow-up action proceedings on the procurement of the Foreign Workers Centralised Management System under the Home Ministry, aimed at obtaining clarification and feedback from the ministry, regarding the PAC recommendations in the PAC statement (DR.4/2025) which was tabled in Parliament on March 6, 2025,” Mas Ermieyati said.
She said that the PAC will also hold follow-up action proceedings on the implementation management of the Multi-Lane Free Flow System Project under the Works Ministry and the Malaysian Highway Authority.
The PAC will hold a similar session on the management of rural water supply projects in Sarawak and Sabah under the Rural and Regional Development Ministry, scheduled for May 20, she said.

Mas Ermieyati said there will also be follow-up action proceedings on the management of the Inland Revenue Board’s (IRB) outstanding accounts under the Finance Ministry and the IRB, as well as proceedings involving land development matters involving DBKL, the Federal Territories Department, and the Department of Director-General of Lands and Mines.
These sessions will be held on May 21.

Known for his investigative work under the moniker “Citizen Nades”, Nadeswaran has been consistently vocal about contentious land matters, having penned numerous columns in Malaysiakini that scrutinise allegedly dubious dealings.
