The Muda central executive committee has unanimously decided to offer back the party presidency to Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman.

This is after the Court of Appeal acquitted the former youth and sports minister of all charges in his RM1.12 million corruption case yesterday.

The party's acting president, Amira Aisya Abd Aziz, said Syed Saddiq's return at the helm would strengthen the party, especially in preparation for upcoming elections.

However, the committee respects Syed Saddiq's need to deliberate on the offer, she added.

Syed Saddiq had stepped down as Muda president in November 2023, following his conviction by the High Court on the charges involving Bersatu Youth funds.

However, the Court of Appeal found that the prosecution had failed to prove their case on all charges.

Prosecutors plan to appeal the acquittal at the Federal Court.
