  • Najib’s Facebook administrator urges Pakatan Harapan leaders who linked the ex-PM to Kevin Morais’ murder to apologise.

  • This comes after the Federal Court yesterday upheld the death sentence for one, upheld imprisonment for two and acquitted three others.

Pakatan Harapan leaders who linked Najib Abdul Razak to the murder of former deputy public prosecutor Kevin Morais should apologise, said the former prime minister’s Facebook page administrator yesterday.

“It’s time for Lim Kit Siang, DAP, Harapan and those who tried to link Najib to Kevin’s murder to tender an open apology – with no excuse whatsoever.”

Yesterday, the Federal Court upheld the death sentence imposed on former military doctor R Kunaseegaran over Kevin’s murder 10 years ago.

According to Free Malaysia Today, two others – S Nimalan, 32; and S Ravi Chandran, 54 – were sentenced to 35 years and 40 years in prison, respectively.

Nimalan was also ordered to receive 12 strokes of the rotan, while Ravi was spared the rotan due to his age.

Chief Justice Tengku Maimum Tuan Mat, who led a three-member panel, said Kunaseegaran’s death sentence remained as he had withdrawn his appeal against the sentence.

The court acquitted three others - R Dinishwaran, 33; AK Thinesh Kumar, 32; and M Vishwanath - after ruling that the prosecution had failed to establish a prima facie case against them.

‘Pen drive’

On Nov 25, 2015, Kevin’s brother, Charles Suresh Morais claimed to be in possession of a pen drive sent to him by his slain brother.

“It is in safe custody in the US with someone who has instructions to release it publicly should anything untoward happen to me for swearing this statutory declaration.

“The contents of this pen drive clearly and unequivocally reveal the investigation Kevin had been tasked with just before his untimely death, which implicates certain personalities who walk the corridors of power in Malaysia,” he added in a statutory declaration.

A day later, Lim called for a new public inquiry over the matter.

“Charles’ revelations in his SD warrant a new and full inquiry into Kevin’s murder.

“It should be an international inquiry in view of the implication of the alleged involvement of powerful personalities, including the new attorney-general who had earlier dismissed the report about the alleged charge sheet against the prime minister,” Lim added.
