A PKR Youth member today said that more police reports will be lodged against an individual who has since been nabbed by the police for allegedly threatening Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

The wing's mobilisation bureau chief, Bariqul Zaman, told Malaysiakini that he had lodged a report today at the Shah Alam district police headquarters, representing PKR Youth and that more will be done by other PKR divisions and branches.

"After this, the branches and states will continue lodging reports in their respective areas.

"I’ve been updated on five states so far, but not yet on the branches.

“We wish to remind everyone that expressing views on the government should be done with discretion and decorum. As Malaysians, courtesy is the cornerstone of our unity.

“Social media must not be used as a platform for threats or intimidation that could endanger national security,” Bariqul said when contacted..

According to him, strict legal action is necessary to educate the public to communicate more civilly, whether in politics or online interactions.

Bernama yesterday reported that the police had detained two local men on suspicion of uploading social media posts containing criminal intimidation, sedition and false allegations against the government and Anwar.

Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director M Kumar said the first arrest involved a 45-year-old man suspected of posting a seditious and insulting statement against the government via a TikTok account under the name Mohd Soie (@mohd.soie3).

“The next arrest involved another man, aged 44, suspected of making a comment containing criminal intimidation against the prime minister of Malaysia using the Facebook account Mdjohan Ngadin,” Kumar reportedly said in a statement.

Bernama reported Kumar saying that both men were being investigated under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948, Sections 506 and 505(b) of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

Kumar stressed that firm action will be taken against any individual who deliberately creates, uploads, shares or spreads content involving sedition, criminal intimidation, false information or any content that could cause public alarm and disrupt societal harmony.
