PAS Youth wants one-third of Sabah polls candidates to be youngsters

PAS MUKTAMAR | PAS Youth wants one-third of the party candidates for the upcoming Sabah state election to be from the younger generation.

Its chief Afnan Hamimi Taib Azzamudden said Sabah youths should be given the opportunity so they can be built as leaders who can helm the state in the future.

According to the Alor Setar MP, the state election is not to be treated as another ordinary polls but a testing ground for Islamic politics in Borneo.

"PAS Youth does not see Sabah as an additional seat platform but instead a big responsibility to fight for the welfare of the 'marhaen' (the poor) in the Borneo state.

"Fielding candidates from the younger generation in Sabah is a signal that we are building a new political culture - clean politics, solution-oriented politics, and people-centred politics.

"Thus, the PAS Youth leadership on this stage today proposes that at least one-third of the party candidates in Sabah should be from youth.

"This is not simply a number but a symbol that we trust the younger generation," Afnan said in his policy speech at the PAS Youth 66th Muktamar in Kedah today.

Adding further, the youth leader said they want Sabahans to know that PAS is offering a real solution to their problems, which would reach all stages of society.
