PAS info chief hits back at Anwar's aide over claim of silence on injured cop

PAS information chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari took Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s aide to task today after the latter accused him of remaining silent over a senior police officer injured in yesterday’s bloody fracas at Kampung Sungai Baru.

Taking to his Facebook today, Fadhli (above) reminded Kamil Abdul Munim that he had addressed the issue in his statement yesterday.

"The political secretary to the finance minister, who is also the prime minister, claimed that PAS has remained silent on the issue of the injured police officer. Strangely enough, however, non-PAS media outlets have been able to report that PAS expressed sympathy for the officer.

"The Prime Minister’s Office clearly needs staff who are more diligent in carrying out analysis before issuing statements. I worry that the prime minister himself, who has previously made statements based on fake TikTok accounts, may be receiving ‘immature advice’ from an inept media team," Fadhli said in a sarcastic reply.

Fadhli was referencing Anwar's allegation against Perikatan Nasional chief Muhyiddin Yassin, that the Pagoh MP had made remarks defending RON95 subsidies for foreigners.

Muhyiddin denied making such remarks, but Anwar said he would not apologise until the MCMC's probe into the matter is complete. On Sept 9, MCMC announced that it was still investigating whether Anwar was right or wrong.

This morning, Bernama quoted Kamil accusing Fadhli of never touching on the incident or condemning the individuals involved in causing the injury to Dang Wangi district police chief Sulizmie Affendy Sulaiman.

‘Utterly inhumane’

However, Fadhli did extend sympathy to Sulizmie after condemning the eviction process in the area.

Fadhli criticised the eviction, calling it "utterly inhumane" that this took place while residents’ appeals are scheduled to be heard at the Court of Appeal on Oct 3.

He noted that on Aug 20, the developer secured an ex parte court order allowing entry to the area, including the cutting of padlocks and the removal of doors, windows, walls and roofs of houses to take possession.

The Pasir MAS MP said that while he respects this decision, he, however, accused the developer of being hasty in the latter’s move to proceed with the eviction.

The eviction yesterday was the authorities’ second attempt since July to oust 14 residents in the enclave, which is adjacent to Kampung Baru.

Many residents have moved out after accepting a buyout deal from the company.
