Govt to monitor daily RON95 refill frequency to curb subsidy abuse
The government will be keeping track of how often individuals redeem subsidised RON95 petrol and will prevent multiple transactions from taking place on the same day.
Finance Minister II Amir Hamzah Azizan said the goal is to curb the misuse and leakage of targeted subsidies once it comes into place at the end of the month.

Finance Minister II Amir Hamzah Azizan said the goal is to curb the misuse and leakage of targeted subsidies once it comes into place at the end of the month.
"We have mechanisms, which will be introduced, to prevent excessive redemptions in a single day.
"This is part of a broader tracking system that monitors how many times a user redeems fuel, along with their total monthly usage," he was quoted as saying by New Straits Times today.
It is unclear how this will affect long-distance drivers who need to do more than one fuel refill per day.
Amir is expected to address this and other questions about the Budi95 subsidy scheme at a press conference this evening.

Meanwhile, Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the National Registration Department has synchronised MyKad data with the Finance Ministry to curb subsidy abuse.
He claimed that before the data was synchronised, there were more than 100 cases where the Rahmah Necessities Aid (Sara) was redeemed using stolen MyKads.
