'Tangkap jerung': Albert thanks PAS and Bersatu, asks why DAP silent
Sabah corruption scandal whistleblower Albert Tei has amplified a call for Malaysians to attend an anti-graft rally scheduled outside the MACC headquarters this Friday.
Tei, who was charged as an alleged bribe giver in the Sabah mining scandal, said Sabahans in Peninsular Malaysia, in particular, should join him to pressure MACC into pressing charges against other implicated assemblypersons.
"I would like to thank PAS and Bersatu for supporting the 'Tangkap Jerung' rally, and to PAS in particular.
"I am very touched and I highly appreciate the recent statement by PAS, supporting the rally and acknowledging my efforts, my struggle for the past one year, against 15 Gabungan Rakyat Sabah lawmakers," he said.
Yesterday, Federal Territories PAS urged Malaysians nationwide to attend the anti-graft rally, in solidarity with Tei, who they claimed has demonstrated significant courage and integrity to expose corrupt practices and abuse of power in the government.
Following a series of video exposés since last November, more than a dozen politicians - including senior state cabinet members - have been linked to the mining scandal.

However, only three individuals have been charged thus far, namely Tei, state assistant minister Andi Suryady Bandy (Tanjung Batu) and Yusof Yacob (Sindumin).
Tei was charged with offering bribes to the assemblypersons, while the two were charged with accepting the bribes.
‘They have disappeared’
Tei further questioned the alleged silence by DAP leaders who, in the past, had been vocal against corruption.
"Disappeared, they have disappeared. Imagine PAS, an Islamist party, but they supported my efforts to combat corruption.
"I am Chinese, but where is the party that is so-called fighting for the Chinese? It's as if they are mute, blind; they don't see the corruption in Sabah," he claimed.
Ahead of the upcoming Sabah election, Tei pointed out that DAP also remains in cooperation with GRS, claiming it is tantamount to an "endorsement" of the incumbent government's alleged corruption activities.

Tei further urged Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, who is also Pakatan Harapan chairperson, not to use his exposés against the GRS-linked corruption scandal as "fodder for threats, and negotiations" with the coalition led by interim chief minister Hajiji Noor.
"The whole of Malaysia can see that GRS is your 'errand boy'. Enough! Take stern action against the corrupt GRS leaders," he stressed.
