  • MCA is in the process of identifying younger members and leaders, aged 40 and below, who have the potential to be candidates in upcoming elections.

    Bernama quoted its youth wing’s information chief, Neow Choo Seong, saying this is important to rejuvenate the party and win back voter support.

    “To become an MCA representative, we need to be able to debate and talk about policies more than just political rhetoric because the people are fed up with this political rhetoric,” Neow (above) said at a gathering with media personnel in Ipoh.

  • Padini Holdings Bhd, which owns several fashion brands in Malaysia, said some of its bank accounts and those of its subsidiaries have been frozen today due to an MACC investigation.

    “The company is assisting in the ongoing investigation,” it said in a Bursa Malaysia filing today, adding the accounts were frozen under Section 44(1) of the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing, and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001.

    It said the affected accounts are not actively used for day-to-day operations, and it still has access to other banking facilities, and the freezing is not expected to have a material financial and operational impact on the group.

    The company owns the brands Padini, Brands Outlet, and Vincci.
