  • Bersatu has launched another internal crackdown by expelling at least two state assemblypersons and suspending the memberships of six others with immediate effect.

    According to notices issued by Bersatu disciplinary board chairperson Radzi Manan, Suka Menanti assemblyperson Dzowahir Ghani and Sungai Tiang assemblyperson Abdul Razak Khamis were expelled from the party.

    In addition, several other leaders were suspended for two Bersatu election terms.

    The suspended elected representatives include Chenderoh assemblyperson Syed Lukman Hakim Syed Zain, Kuala Sepetang assemblyperson Ahmad Man, Tanah Merah MP Ikmal Hisham Abdul Aziz, Rompin MP Khalib Abdullah, and Lumut MP Nordin Ahmad Ismail.

    Meanwhile, three others were issued with warning letters - Kulim Bandar-Baru MP Roslan Hashim; Sabak Bernam MP Kalam Salam; and Kangar MP Zakri Hassan.

Sand exports

  • Pahang Menteri Besar Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail has backed Crown Prince Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah’s calls for the federal government to lift its ban on exporting river sand.

    In a statement, he said sand exports could increase state revenue, and are also important for river management and reducing flood risks.

  • Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said he will ask Finance Minister II Amir Hamzah Azizan to write and provide a comprehensive explanation regarding the federal government’s allocation for Pahang.

    “I respect the Tengku Mahkota (crown prince). However, the Tengku Mahkota should also understand the macro (economy), because the allocation for Pahang is large, not small.

    “While criticisms can be made, I think it is reasonable to first listen to what the macroeconomy is, current economic pressures, and the leakages occurring,” Bernama quoted him as saying.
