• The public sector’s work-from-home policy has saved the government RM4.22 million in RON95 petrol subsidies, according to Chief Secretary to the Government Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar.

  “It should be reminded once again that BDR (bekerja dari rumah - WFH) does not mean ‘baring duduk rehat’ (lying down, sitting, resting). It is aimed at controlling petrol consumption, which is why the government approved WFH beginning April 15.

  “Although subsidy pressures have increased sharply, the government will ensure that services to the people are not affected,” he was quoted as saying by Bernama yesterday.

• The Mara Junior Science College (MRSM) in Kinarut, Sabah will be renamed as the MRSM Tun Musa Aman.

  Mara chairperson Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi proposed the name change as recognition for the Sabah governor’s contributions to education development in the state.

  This was relayed to Musa (above) during an audience he granted to Asyraf yesterday, according to a Facebook post by the former.

Crime

• Two suspects involved in a spate of robberies in the Klang Valley were killed during a shootout in Kajang last night.

  Police reportedly found a revolver, bullets and empty casings, as well as four machetes, burglary tools, face masks and gloves at the scene.

  

  Bukit Aman CID director M Kumar was quoted as saying by Bernama that more details would be revealed at a press conference later today.
