MP funding

  • Subang MP Wong Chen today posted a message of “solidarity” for his PKR colleague Lee Chean Chung, after the Petaling Jaya MP announced that he too had lost access to the MyKhas portal.

“Chean Chung, sorry to hear that you have been blocked too. Nevertheless, welcome to the club!

“I read your statement; thank you for reminding all of the Pakatan Harapan manifesto that is supposed to take away the discretionary powers of the prime minister on constituency funding and pass the powers directly back to Parliament. Wonder where is reformasi?” Wong (above, left) said on Facebook.

Wong’s office has been blocked from accessing the portal since May 20 without any notice or explanation.

Later, Wong was also removed as Malaysia Debt Ventures chairperson, allegedly without prior notice.

Legal

  • Beruas Umno chief Azhar Ahmad has indicated that he is considering legal action against those who accused him of assault, warning that he will not hesitate to pursue all legal avenues should sufficient grounds and evidence be established.

In a statement, the former senator cited a TikTok account, a Harakah Daily article, and a police report lodged against him as points of contention. The report alleged that he slapped a student at a UiTM student leadership programme.

Yesterday, he denied claims that he slapped the late PAS spiritual leader Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat’s grandson at the said event in Janda Baik, Pahang.

Renewable energy

  • Tender submissions for the Large-Scale Solar 6 (LSS6) programme are expected to open this year, said Deputy Prime Minister Fadillah Yusof.

Fadillah, who is also energy transition and water transformation minister, said all future solar power projects will be required to incorporate battery energy storage systems to strengthen grid stability while expanding renewable energy capacity.

LSS6 is among the initiatives the government is accelerating in response to global energy challenges, Bernama reported him as saying.

In a separate development, Fadillah said Malaysia’s fuel supply remains sufficient to meet any potential challenges arising from seasonal changes in the northern hemisphere.

Politics

  • DAP said a purported list of candidates for the Johor election circulating on social media is fake.

Earlier, BN said a similar list for the coalition was also fake.
