• An Umno leader has questioned the timing of the Negeri Sembilan state legislative assembly's dissolution, which came into effect just hours before the state's territorial chieftains are scheduled to hold a meeting aimed at finding a solution for its ongoing royal dispute.

  In a statement, Subang Umno division chief Armand Azha Abu Hanifah called the move by Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun "hasty" and urged the state government to explain their reasoning.

  "Is this dissolution a normal administrative measure, or is it in fact an attempt to avoid the implications that may arise from developments expected at the upcoming Negeri Sembilan Council of the Yang di-Pertuan Besar and the Ruling Chiefs (Dewan Keadilan dan Undang) meeting?

  "What is certain is that this last-minute action does not resolve the questions that have been raised; instead, it creates even more uncertainty and invites further speculation among the public," he said.

  Armand also raised questions on the legitimacy of the dissolution, pointing to the unresolved royal dispute that saw the chieftains “sacking” state ruler Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir in April.

• Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching strongly urged the MCMC to provide an immediate explanation for restrictions supposedly imposed on The Coverage Media’s Facebook page.

  

  Issuing the call in a social media post late last night, Teo highlighted that she has always maintained a “non-interference policy” regarding MCMC’s independent enforcement operations.

  The Coverage Media’s Facebook page is said to have been restricted by the MCMC since June 3, which the portal claimed was linked to its contents that are critical of the government.
