• PAS leaders have started hitting the ceramah circuit to explain and justify the party’s decision to end political ties with Bersatu.

  At one ceramah in Lipis, Pahang, PAS central committee member Khairil Nizam Khirudin said the party was concerned that there were “trojan horses” sent to cause havoc in Perikatan Nasional, of which Bersatu and PAS were members.

  “The chaos and rifts that have been caused have affected the momentum of the opposition coalition. We had to endure many betrayals from our friends,” said the Jerantut MP, who added that PAS had to put its foot down despite initially taking the high road in response.

  Another PAS senior leader, ulama council chief Ahmad Yahaya, told a crowd in Kubang Pasu, Kedah, about his disappointment and sadness over the decision.

  

  Ahmad stressed that Bersatu’s move to suspend its Kedah assemblyperson Amri Wahab, who represents Derga, had slighted the feelings of grassroots PAS members.

Crime 

• “Piu Piu”, a new synthetic drug made up of fentanyl and psychoactive chemicals, is becoming more common in electronic cigarette liquids, raising alarm bells among the police.

  Deputy Inspector-General of Police Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said the drug causes severe intoxication, leaving users in a zombie-like state.

  

  The presence of these drugs in vape liquids has prompted Ayob to call for a ban on all electronic cigarettes in the country, Bernama reported.

  “The main issue at present is not whether vaping presents a business opportunity for certain groups, but that the device is being dangerously misused by mixing it with new drugs or new psychoactive substances.
