Call snap GE, not for BN ministers to quit, Umno leader tells Harapan

An Umno supreme council member has rebuffed Pakatan Harapan Youth’s demand that BN ministers and their deputies quit after aligning with Perikatan Nasional for the Negeri Sembilan polls.

Razlan Rafii said Harapan should instead call for a snap general election.

“This government doesn’t belong to Harapan. It would be best for them to look inwards and see where their power actually comes from.

“The biggest problem when humans get power is that they forget where this power comes from.

“So, suggest to your leaders, return the mandate to the people, let the people decide. This is a democratic country,” Razlan said.

Earlier, Harapan Youth said BN’s decision to partner with PN showed they were ungrateful for the positions given by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

They cited BN chairperson Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s remarks yesterday that the Negeri Sembilan pact was a test of Malay unity for future cooperation in the 16th general election.

A BN-PN pact at the federal level could be devastating for Harapan. 31 of the 79 seats won by DAP, PKR, and Amanah in the last general election were won with less than 50 percent of the votes, primarily due to BN and PN splitting the Malay vote.
