The MACC has set up a special task force to examine the findings of a royal commission of inquiry report on Tabung Haji, which was made public last night.
In a statement today, the graftbusters said MACC Investigation Division senior director Hafaz Nazar will lead the task force in examining issues involving elements of corruption, criminal breach of trust, document forgery, abuse of power, or money laundering.

It also requested the public to refrain from speculating on the matter until the probe has been completed.

Separately, the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) said it will immediately review the report.
In a statement, it said its examination is aimed at ensuring all aspects of investigations by enforcement agencies can be carried out comprehensively so that appropriate considerations can be made to determine any prosecutable offences.
PKR deputy president Nurul Izzah Anwar has dismissed criticism from Umno and PAS leaders on the timing of the report’s release, just days before the Negeri Sembilan election on Saturday.
According to New Straits Times, she said Pakatan Harapan would be attacked regardless of when the report is released, so the focus should be on its contents and safeguarding Tabung Haji’s future.

PKR deputy president Nurul Izzah Anwar “What is important is that there is a report. We ask the people, voters, and the media to assess and understand it.
“What matters is transparency and the courage to disclose it. Now, we move forward towards polling day,” she was quoted as saying.
Data centre
A proposed data centre in Section 9, Kota Damansara has been shelved, according to the local assemblyperson Izuan Kasim, who said in a Facebook post that the consultant has withdrawn the project.
The withdrawal came after weeks of opposition over concerns regarding the data centre’s impact on adjacent residential areas, particularly its water and energy consumption.
