The Negeri Sembilan state government is moving to gazette the proclamations recognising Tuanku Nadzaruddin Tuanku Ja’afar as the new Yang di-Pertuan Besar, replacing Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir.

Menteri Besar Ismail Lasim this morning confirmed that the state administration will accept the April 19 proclamations by the Negeri Sembilan territorial chieftains to remove Tuanku Muhriz and recognise Tuanku Nadzaruddin as the new ruler.
"Today I wish to confirm that the proclamation was indeed discussed and unanimously decided by all state executive council members during our meeting on Sept 15.
"The state executive council has instructed the state secretary to proceed with gazetting (the proclamations) according to existing procedures," he told reporters in Seremban.

The proclamations were issued on April 19 by the four undang - Mubarak Thahak (Sungai Ujong), Maarof Mat Rashad (Jelebu), Muhammad Abdullah (Johol), and Abdul Rahim Yasin (Rembau) - together with the tunku besar of Tampin and Sungai Ujong’s datuk syahbandar.
The first proclamation removed Tuanku Muhriz after the chieftains purportedly launched their own investigation into the ruler on March 5 over alleged transgressions in his royal duties. They deemed the unspecified transgressions to have been committed deliberately, thereby besmirching the royal institution.
The second proclamation named Tuanku Nadzaruddin as the next Yang di-Pertuan Besar with immediate effect.
However, the Negeri Sembilan Council of the Yang di-Pertuan Besar and the Ruling Chiefs (Dewan Keadilan dan Undang, or DKU) has rejected the proclamations, claiming they were not made according to the law and state constitution.
It also alleged that the chieftains had no authority to make such a decision, as three of them had already been removed from office. In Rahim’s case, his status as the Rembau undang came into question as his installation two years ago was purportedly not gazetted.
The April incident sparked a prolonged royal saga in Negeri Sembilan that eventually spilt into state politics, triggering a state election.
The dispute also led to an ongoing legal battle between the chieftains and the DKU. The customary leaders filed a civil action against the council, its secretary Raja Norazli Raja Nordin, and former menteri besar Aminuddin Harun, among others, for refusing to release the minutes of a DKU sitting on April 17.
