A day after royal revocation, still 'business as usual' for N Sembilan MB and exco, aide says
Amid the political uncertainty gripping Negeri Sembilan, Menteri Besar Ismail Lasim and his state executive councillors continued working as usual today, despite their appointments having reportedly been “revoked” by embattled ruler Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir.
Malaysiakini learned that Ismail and all 10 state executive councillors were carrying out their scheduled duties and still had access to their respective offices at the Negeri Sembilan state secretariat in Seremban.

Amid the political uncertainty gripping Negeri Sembilan, Menteri Besar Ismail Lasim and his state executive councillors continued working as usual today, despite their appointments having reportedly been “revoked” by embattled ruler Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir.
Malaysiakini learned that Ismail and all 10 exco members were carrying out their duties and still had access to their respective offices at the state secretariat in Seremban.
Ismail’s press secretary, Fasha Musthafa, confirmed this, saying it was “business as usual” for the state leaders.
"No issues. All members of the state exco are carrying out their duties as usual according to their respective schedules," he told Malaysiakini.
Yesterday, media reports stated that none of the state administration members had entered the state secretariat building as of that morning, hours after the palace issued a statement announcing Tuanku Muhriz’s decision to revoke the exco members’ appointments.
The palace cited Article 38(5) of the state constitution, which states that exco members hold office at the pleasure of the ruler.

However, Ismail (above) disputed the Yang di-Pertuan Besar’s action, arguing that the move was “unconstitutional”.
Zahid denies royal summons
Meanwhile, Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Ismail reportedly have yet to have an audience with Tuanku Muhriz to discuss the political crisis in Negeri Sembilan.
This comes amid reports yesterday that the Umno leaders had been summoned to meet the ruler at his satellite palace in Kuala Lumpur, along with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
"Not me. The Negeri Sembilan menteri besar and I have not been summoned (by Tuanku Muhriz).
"We only knew (about the meeting) from media reports," Zahid told reporters this morning, as quoted by Astro Awani.

This case is going to set a precedent for the nature of our monarchy system.
To add: the NS exco is demonstrating more courage in ensuring constitutional integrity than the PM who formed a unity govt by a royal mandate and abandoning the mandate of the people and bought loyalty for a full term that the constitution has no provision for and by allowing a house arrest that is not provided for by the constitution. When decisions are made that are unconstitutional, the govt must act only according to the constitution.
I don’t agree with the NS MB involving the state govt in deposing a ruler. That is not their role and it is illegal because the constitution does not give them the authority to do so. This is a tussle for power between co-rulers and the state govt has no business getting involved. However, having said that, according to the constitution, the ruler has no authority to revoke the position of elected reps in the exco without the advice of the MB. When that happens or when any decision is made that is not allowed for or even stated in the federal constitution, the govt can’t enforce it. Enforcing it makes it illegal. The govt is under oath to uphold the constitution and so can not enforce a decision that goes against the law of the land. NS exco is doing the right thing in carrying on as usual and be prepared for the consequences.
