Tunku Nadzaruddin audience cancelled, lawyer claims blockaded by police

An audience between Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Ismail Lasim and his cabinet with rival claimant to the throne Tunku Nadzaruddin Tuanku Ja'afar this morning has been cancelled.

Meanwhile, a lawyer representing Tunku Nadzaruddin and disputed chieftains supporting him claimed that the group were stuck in the Sungai Ujong ceremonial hall compound due to a police blockade.

"The police have surrounded the place," lawyer Emirul Sarifudin Nor Azmi told Malaysiakini. He also claimed there were two trucks full of officers waiting nearby the hall.

The press have also been barred by police from approaching the Sungai Ujong ceremonial hall.

The audience with Tunku Nadzaruddin was supposed to take place at the Tuanku Ja'afar royal gallery, Sere at 9am.

However, questions arose when neither the rival claimant to the throne nor the menteri besar showed up by 10am.

A source later told Malaysiakini that authorities had advised to cancel the meeting due to "security factors".
