Among others, a controversial BN backbencher notorious for his "bloody bastard" remark said he hated himself for his past antics while the Transport Minister conceded that the national train company has been sustaining multi-million loses since 2003.

Tajuddin: I hate myself

Backbencher Tajuddin Abdul Rahman (BN-Pasir Salak) today said he hated himself for the controversial remarks he has made in the Parliament and said he has repented over his mistakes.

The MP made the statement and brought up the issue out of the blue during his debate on the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Bill this afternoon. He did not elaborate.

The outspoken lawmaker was in the limelight recently for openly calling an opposition MP in the House as a " keling " and "bloody bastard".

He also made a sexual innuendo in the House when he said another male opposition MP " tak masuk lagi, dah lama tak masuk. Main tepi saja " and " bila nak keluar lagi air dia ".

KTMB sustaining heavy loses

Transport Minister Ong Tee Keat said in a written reply that the national train provider KTMB has been sustaining heavy losses since 2003 up to last year.

In 2003 KTMB suffered loses up to RM131.2 million followed by RM87.6 million in 2004, RM131.1 million (2005), RM104.4 million (2006) and RM116.1 million (2007).

keretapi tanah melayu ktm malaysia He said that the loses sustained by the company was due to increase in operating costs, administration costs and the cost needed to repay its loans as well as the depreciation asset costs of the trains.

He further said that his ministry was doing its best to increase the quality of train-based services and this would in turn solve the problems faced by the company.

Courts to record proceedings electronically

A proposed amendment to allow the courts to record proceedings by using any electronic, digital or magnetic devices was tabled for first reading in the Dewan Rakyat today.

The Bill, named the Criminal Procedure Code (Amendment) 2008, was tabled by Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Mohd Nazri Abdul Aziz.

The Bill added that any electronically recorded proceedings would be transcribed and the transcription will form part of the records or notes of proceedings or as evidence.
