State-owned oil firm Petronas announced its unit Malaysia LNG Sdn Bhd will supply liquefied natural gas to Japanese firm Osaka Gas under a 15-year contract beginning April 2009.

Malaysia LNG will supply up to 920,000 tonnes of the commodity each year, Petronas said in a statement. It did not provide financial details.

It will be transported from the Petronas LNG complex in Bintulu in eastern Sarawak state to Osaka Gas' receiving terminals in Senboku and Himeji in Japan.

Osaka Gas is the second largest gas company in Japan, supplying household and industrial gas to more than 6.8 million users in the Kansai area.

The Petronas LNG complex has a combined production capacity of about 23 million tonnes per annum.
