Anwar Ibrahim is the fourth prime minister since Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah’s crowning in January 2019.
His Majesty had the Dewan Rakyat in stitches when he expressed hope not to swear in another prime minister before his reign ends next year.
Sultan Abdullah also recalled how he was forced to intervene in politics after Dr Mahathir Mohamad resigned as prime minister in 2020, plunging the nation into a leadership crisis.
“To this day, I have gone through various unforgettable incidents and experiences.
“It will be recorded in history that I'm the only Agong who has been blessed to reign over the country with four prime ministers,” the ruler said.

Lynas gets conditional renewal
The government has renewed the operating licence for the Lynas rare earths processing plant in Gebeng, Kuantan.
However, much to the Australian firm’s disappointment, the conditions imposed by the previous Pakatan Harapan administration were retained, as was previously reported by Malaysiakini.
This could lead to a partial closure of the plant if not met by July 1 this year.
The conditions include relocating the “cracking and leaching” facility, which produces radioactive Water Leach Purification (WLP) residue, out of Malaysia before July and constructing a Permanent Disposal Facility (PDF) to store existing waste from when it began operating in 2012.

‘Football and religion’ probe in final phase
The police investigation into the allegation that a teacher encouraged a Form Three student to embrace Islam to boost his chances of becoming a member of the national football team is in the final phase.
Cheras district police chief Zam Halim Jamaluddin said the investigation papers are expected to be submitted to the deputy public prosecutor this Thursday.
The boy’s parents had lodged a police report on the matter and the case was classified under Section 298A of the Penal Code, which stipulates offences related to promoting racial or religious enmity.

Former MPBJ councillor and disabled rights activist Anthony Thanasayan, 63, died due to a lung infection.
