Cracks over Najib pardon bid

Cracks emerged in the coalition government after Amanah communications director Khalid Samad called for jailed former premier Najib Abdul Razak's royal pardon bid to be rejected.

Umno leaders were up in arms over Khalid's remarks, with one supreme council member saying the government would not last.

However, top leaders have moved to mend the situation, with Amanah deputy president Salahuddin Ayub apologising to Umno, and Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamid assuaging disgruntled members.

Expect the issue to crop up again though once Najib's pardon bid is brought before the Pardons Board in the future.

PN fire on PM open house fizzles

PN's outrage over Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's open house tour fizzled when the first event took place in Alor Setar, Kedah on Saturday.

Kedah Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor - who was among the critics - relented and attended the event when state ruler Sultan Sallehuddin Sultan Badlishah decided to go as well.

There, he was seen mingling with Anwar and other government ministers.

The next PM open house will be held in Penang on May 6.

PN might have some new members soon ahead of the upcoming state polls.

Former Ketereh Umno chief Annuar Musa said he will be joining the "right party" soon to end his political hiatus.

Meanwhile, speculation persists that PN wants to field Khairy Jamaluddin in Selangor.
