MACC hunts for KLIA ‘broker’

The MACC is hunting for an “agent” who allegedly tried to solicit bribes from the Chinese tourist who was later “rescued” by a minister.

The man had allegedly asked for over RM15,000 to help the woman get through immigration checks.

The MACC learned of this after taking a statement from Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Tiong King Sing and the tourist.

However, an MACC source lamented that the media circus behind the incident may have made the hunt a difficult pursuit.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim also revealed that the National Registration Department was investigating cases where those who qualify for citizenship are allegedly being extorted to get their papers.

Mahathir amps up Malay-factor

Dr Mahathir Mohamad is amping up his racialised tangents in an apparent effort to restore Malaysia as “Tanah Melayu”.

Last week he accused non-Malays of trying to change the country’s name.

On Monday, he claimed it was against the constitution to promote a multiracial nation while taking swipes at DAP.

Critics, however, were quick to point out that this interpretation was rubbish.

Muda’s big ‘brain’ move

Muda is in need of money for the upcoming state elections.

To get this money, the party will be doing various fundraising initiatives, starting with a “brainy” move by party president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman.

The Muar MP will be selling otak-otak online this weekend to get the ball rolling for his party.

Other planned initiatives include selling sneakers and even personal assets.
