Akmal’s push for PAS-Umno reunion

Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh has doubled down on his call for Umno to reunite with PAS.

Akmal said that if the two parties can get together again, it would get other Malays to unite too.

He added that Umno should not be afraid of being the opposition.

The remarks were made at a special convention on Saturday, which Umno president Zahid Hamidi sanctioned.

PAS, meanwhile, is indicating that it is open to a reunion with its ex.

Armed forces under probe

The armed forces are being investigated for corruption.

This is after Bersatu member Badrul Hisham Shaharin, better known as Chegubard, alleged that a forensic review of documents he received anonymously showed monthly transactions amounting to tens of thousands of ringgit credited to the accounts of a senior army officer and family members.

The allegations have led to a probe into several army projects since 2023.

One of those investigated is army chief Hafizuddeain Jantan’s who was supposed to be promoted as the next army chief.

He has been put on leave pending investigations, and his promotion has been put on hold.

Several other suspects have been identified, and the MACC is in the midst of tracking and freezing assets.

Anwar raps US for nabbing Maduro

The US launched an attack on Venezuela and detained its president, Nicolas Maduro and his wife.

Maduro is facing charges alleging that the Venezuelan president ran “state-sponsored gangs” and facilitated drug trafficking.

US President Donald Trump said that the US will now run Venezuela until a "judicious transition" can take place.

Trump is also seizing Venezuela's massive oil reserves and bringing in US companies to "fix" the South American country's oil infrastructure.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim called Maduro’s arrest a breach of international law and called for his immediate release.
